Raenell loves still life and all the challenges of portraying beautiful and interesting objects in paint. She collects fine china, pottery, silver, crystal and tapestries which she uses in her paintings and is always on the lookout for another treasure. She also maintains a large garden, growing most of the flowers she uses in her work. Living in Washington gives her access to such a great variety of fresh fruits, vegetables and flowers to paint. She works from life with natural light as often as possible and always tries to capture the essence of what drew her to the subject in the first place.
